About
Otto Faithorne, Managing Director of West Somerset based Taunton Oak Limited, he has over 35 years wide-ranging experience in the woodworking business, including machining, making and fitting kitchens, cabinet-making, and fitting English oak flooring and cedar cladding.
In 2011 Otto set up Taunton Oak to meet the demand for high-quality traditional English oak floorboards. Since then Taunton Oak has expanded its range of products to include engineered flooring from selected suppliers, and cladding manufactured from environmentally friendly British Western red cedar as well as North American stock.
All products are manufactured to order in Taunton Oak's fully equipped workshop close to Bicknoller in West Somerset, just twelve miles from Taunton along the A358.
Taunton Oak also stock a comprehensive range of other woods such ash, douglas fir, tulipwood etc.

Flooring
We stock 100mm x 200mm x 2.4m and longer oak sleepers. We can also supply to order seasoned and fresh-sawn beams cut to size in: Oak - Douglas fir - Siberian Larch
Bespoke Solid Oak Flooring
English and European sawn oak boards are face-selected and machined to order into your choice of tongue and groove or square edge traditional floor boards from £54 + VAT per square metre.

Face selected - square edge - tongue & groove (no extra cost)
Sawn ends can have splits and knots, which are normally cut out. Extra wastage to be allowed for when ordering.

Engineered Boards
There is a small display area at our works unit, where a selection of competitively priced boards can be viewed by appointment.
Floorboards in other woods
We supply traditional boards in pine and other woods, for commercial and private use, machined to order.

Cladding
All the exterior cladding supplied by Taunton Oak is machined to order here in our West Somerset workshop. We pride ourselves on the superior quality of our cladding.
Timber includes English/British Western Red Cedar; North American Western Red Cedar; Siberian Larch; European and English fresh sawn oak.
Other timbers are available on request.
Matching service available on receipt of a sample of the existing cladding.
Interior cladding in oak or pine is kiln-dried and supplied at approx.
11%-12% moisture content.

Our Western red cedar sawn boards are bought in fresh-sawn and then air-dried in our storage facility before being machined into stock or bespoke profiles
We keep large stocks of sawn boards drying under cover in airy barns.
A limited supply of 'seconds' and offcuts is available at a discount price of £28 + VAT
Boards can be machined to stock profiles or custom machined to your specification.
Siberian and Local-grown British larch are also stocked here at Taunton Oak and can provide a durable and reasonably-priced alternative to British or American Western Red Cedar cladding.
Delivery & Fitting
Orders can be collected from our workshop in West Somerset, or we can deliver. Please ask us to include delivery when requesting a quote.
We regret we are not usually able to provide a fitting service, however we may be able to recommend a fitter in your area.
